Benvenuti al Rué

Rué (read "rooeh") is the name of our "neighbourhood" — 40 hectares of woodland in the Alta Langa hills, meaning "Oak Forest" in the Piedmontese dialect.

A stay at Doi Fagnàn (meaning "Two Slackers" in the local dialect) is an immersive experience at the heart of nature, also offering the historical features of a traditional stone farmhouse, wiht the comfort an cosyness of a modern stone house we're lucky enough to call "home".

18th Century Stone Farmhouse at Doi Fagnàn

18th Century
Stonehouse

Our historic 18th-century home, constructed in the traditional Piedmontese style of the area, showcases the charming Langa stone.

This historical residence pays tribute to the past, featuring sturdy stone walls that carry centuries-old stories, creating an atmosphere of authenticity and warmth. The text you are looking at? An authentic incised stone that probably says "1790", hand-carved possibly by a man that used roman numerals in a somewhat cryptic way – probably a Merchant, because of "how wrongly" he used the numerals. BTW: We also inherithed a hand-digged cave.

We're eager to introduce you to this 18th century old testament of Italian rural history, surrounded by the beauty of nature.

The Hosts

We are Giorgia and Enrico, your hosts at Doi Fagnàn. After years of city life in Berlin, we decided to embrace a different rhythm — one guided by nature, seasons, and the quiet, still beauty of the Langhe hills (UNESCO World Heritage Site).

Together with our beloved gang of woodland-native cats, we welcome you to our little slice of rural paradise.

How many guests can stay? +

The house accommodates up to 6 guests. There are 2 bedrooms (Cortile and Noccioleto), each with a mezzanine loft accessible via wooden staircase for additional sleeping space.

What is the minimum stay? +

The minimum stay is 2–3 nights depending on the season. We offer discounts for stays of 7 nights or more. Contact us for different arrangements.

Is the entire house ours? +

The house is divided into two separate areas: our private quarters and the guest house, which is entirely yours during your stay. The guest house includes the bedrooms, bathroom, living area, and a fully equipped kitchen. There is also a shared Taverna (cellar) with a simple kitchen, dedicated to guests. We only take one reservation at a time, so the entire guest area is exclusively yours — even if you're just two people. Note: if you'd like to use both bedrooms, each room is charged separately.

Is there Wi-Fi? Can I work remotely? +

Absolutely. We have fast 300 Mbps fiber internet throughout the property. Each bedroom has a dedicated desk and chair. Host Enrico is a remote tech professional and ensures optimal connectivity.

Are pets allowed? +

Unfortunately, we do not allow guest pets. This is to maintain balance with the animals already living in and around the property, but mainly to keep the house clean and welcoming for guests with respiratory conditions or animal allergies.

How do I get there? +

A car is recommended as the property is in a rural area. The best way to find us is by following Google Maps (https://maps.app.goo.gl/CBLMPfzia4df9hQm7) — it's the only navigation app that pinpoints our exact location. GPS: 44°35'33.6"N 8°07'37.6"E. Nearest airports: Turin Caselle (TRN) and Cuneo Levaldigi (CUF).

What is there to do nearby? +

The Langhe region is famous for wine (Barolo, Barbaresco), truffles (Alba), and gastronomy. There are excellent cycling and hiking trails directly from the property, and the area is perfect for wine tours, cooking experiences, and exploring historic villages.

Can we host a small team retreat? +

Yes! We host small team retreats for up to 6 people with fast Wi-Fi, multiple indoor/outdoor working spaces, and the taverna for social time. Contact us at giorgia@doi-fagnan.it to plan your retreat.

Is breakfast included? +

The house has a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering. Meal experiences with host Giorgia can be arranged on request — she's an excellent cook! There are also wonderful local restaurants nearby.

Do you have a fireplace, fire pit, BBQ, or pizza oven? +

Yes! We have an indoor fireplace, an outdoor fire pit, an outdoor BBQ, and a single Ooni pizza oven. All of these amenities need to be requested in advance so we can prepare, clean, and maintain them properly. Some come with a small charge — for example, the indoor fireplace is €20/night as it's a traditional fireplace that requires experience to operate and uses firewood. Contact us when booking to arrange.

Is the house comfortable in winter and summer? +

Absolutely. The house has a modern heating and air conditioning system for total comfort year-round — cozy in cold winters and cool during hot summers. In extreme climate conditions, a small extra charge may apply for energy costs.
